Vol. 6 No. 1.1 (2024): Field Crops
Volume 6, Issue 6.1.1 gathers twenty papers of the Field Crops section of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences "Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisesti", presented at the Fourth Symposium of Agronomic Research in Romania. The papers are ordered alphabetically by first author.
Climate change runs through the issue as a common thread: the manifestation of yellow rust in triticale and the 2023 stripe rust wave in winter cereals, shifts in forage crop areas and types, the performance of maize under long-term amendment and fertilization experiments at Livada, and the variation of wheat protein content with climatic conditions and fertilization at Simnic. Wheat is covered by cultivar performance trials from N.A.R.D.I. Fundulea tested in the ADER programme, a comparison of Romanian varieties under organic and conventional systems at Valu lui Traian, and current principles of weed control. Further contributions address green manure on acidic soils, the quality of maize hybrids in western Romania, weed structure under unconventional tillage, bio-fertilizer trials across crops and regions, cowpea genotypes under southern Oltenia conditions, sunflower hybrid behaviour at Simnic, the effect of herbicides on soil mesofauna in broad bean, a new Dactylis glomerata L. cultivar, maize cob morphology, and current problems in Romanian soil science. Two papers deal with potato: acclimatization of microplants and minituber production under protected space, and in vitro microtuberization of local varieties from the Suceava gene bank.
Papers are published in English, with abstracts in English and Romanian.
