Volume 5, Issue 5.2 brings together twelve papers presented at the anniversary session of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences "Gheorghe Ionescu-Șișești" on 25 May 2023, edited by the Academy's Horticulture section.

Viticulture and oenology account for most of the issue. Contributions cover biotechnologies for regenerating virus-free planting material, the behaviour of the Mamaia and Columna varieties in the Murfatlar vineyard ecosystem, the frost-resistant Golia variety released at Iași, carbohydrate reserves in cultivars grown at Blaj, the Bican roz 6 Mf table grape clone approved in 2022, disease-resistant hybrid elites obtained at Odobești, phenological shifts in Pinot noir and Chardonnay under a warming climate in the Miniș vineyard, and three decades of precipitation and soil moisture records from vineyards in north-eastern Romania. Fruit growing is represented by apricot and peach breeding at Constanța, rootstock-scion combinations in a high density apple orchard in northern Transylvania, and the genetic resources underpinning Romanian breeding programmes for fruit trees, berries and strawberry. A final paper analyses ecological indicators of insect species in a vineyard plantation at Călinești, Argeș.

The papers come from nine research institutes and stations across Romania. Papers are published in English, with abstracts in English and Romanian.
