Vol. 7 No. 1 (2025): Field Crops
Volume 7, Issue 7.1 gathers sixteen papers of the Field Crops section of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences "Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisesti", presented at the Academy's anniversary session of 29 May 2025.
Cereals and industrial crops account for most of the issue: the timing of fungicide treatments across wheat phenological stages, the impact of yellow rust on triticale grain quality, a comparative morphological analysis of the Trivale and Bezostaia wheat varieties under conventional and organic systems, multi-year testing of Romanian winter wheat varieties across the country's growing areas, protein and oil content in maize hybrids, the use of old maize populations in breeding extra-early hybrids, maize yield under early sowing in central Transylvania, and sunflower production in relation to morphological parameters and plant density. A further group deals with climate change effects on sunflower, maize and sorghum in the South Dobrogea Plateau and with water stress in Phaseolus vulgaris L. Other contributions cover technological sequences in organic Dracocephalum moldavica, the agrotechnical features and palatability of Cichorium intybus as cattle feed, chlorophyll estimation in potato leaves from SPAD measurements, and in vitro development of potato plantlets preserved under slow growth at the Suceava genebank. Two socio-economic studies examine consumer and farmer perspectives on agricultural biotechnologies and their bearing on national food security.
Papers are published in English, with abstracts in English and Romanian.
